Aussie Ninjas!

Getting mugged is never fun. Sure, it gives you a great story that never gets old, I mean, who wouldn't want to hear about the time one of my friends got drop-kicked while another had a machete pulled on him? Unfortunately there's always the chance you won't be around to tell a story ever again.
It happened to me more than once when I was a teenager, and as a practicing adult, I'd welcome any would-be street-punk to try it as long as I could witness the sheer awesomeness that went down last week in Australia. A German foreign exchange student was being mugged by three blokes in a Sydney alleyway when several good samaritans came to his aid and chased the muggers away... and by good samaritans, I mean ninjas.
Adjacent to the scene of the crime is a ninja school (sign me up). One of the students took notice of the mugging and a bunch of them ran out at the perpetrators in full costume. Needless to say the over-matched theives bolted, but they still got away with an iPod and cellphone. Not a bad bounty, but I'd have settled for a black eye to have been involved in that scene.

Munschies

So last night my friend was trying to get me to watch something on Global about Robert Munsch and addiction. Unfortunately, I was too busy watching Gremlins with my roommate to pay any attention. Then this morning as I was wasting company time reading the news I came across an article entitled "Robert Munsch admits cocaine addiction." Apparently the author has been addicted to drugs and booze for years and only got sober 4 months ago.

To me, this is on par with finding out that the Easter Bunny isn't real (metaphorically... I'm Jewish) or that Santa is just a guy in a suit (see above). It's incredible that a guy who spends his time reading to schoolchildren could be dependent on coke, but it also kind of makes me understand it....
